La Mère Germaine

Named after the matriarch who established this place several generations ago, La Mère Germaine contains both a restaurant gastronomique and a simple bistro. Both enjoy sweeping panoramas from terraces where tables are set out in the summer months. Cuisine in both establishments is based on the traditions of Provence. In the bistro, you're likely to find simple platters of grilled fish, stews, casseroles, and grilled meats, but in the restaurant, cuisine is more elaborate, intricate, and tuned to the seasons. Dishes in the restaurant include zucchini flowers stuffed with mushrooms and drizzled with ratatouille juice, roasted rabbit stuffed with black-olive tapenade and fresh tomatoes, filet of turbot with barigoule (Provençal vinaigrette), and crispy rack of lamb scented with herbs from the surrounding garrigue (scrubland).

Eight simple, well-scrubbed bedrooms are available on the premises. None has a phone or elaborate amenities, but for a comfortable sojourn after a meal in the restaurant, they all offer good value and a sense of comfort and efficiency.
