From the flagstoned terrace of Elena Nappa's hilltop B&B (she bought the whole medieval hamlet), you can see the farmhouse where Bertolucci filmed Stealing Beauty in 1996. Against remarkable odds (she'll regale you with the anecdotes), Elena has created the rural retreat of her (and your) dreams. When you arrive, you'll likely find her upstairs next to a roaring fire in the kitchen, sewing. Elena's design talents (she was a fashion stylist in Milan) are amazing, and the guest rooms boast antique wrought-iron beds, deluxe mattresses, handmade quilts, hand-stitched lace curtains, and timeworn terra-cotta tiles. The bathrooms are made to look old-fashioned, though the plumbing is modern. Since the place isn't easy to find, English-speaking Elena will fax you directions when you reserve. In addition to four doubles, she offers accommodations in two suites, two small houses (for two or three people), and the Villa Oliviera (for four people). When faced with all the questions foreign guests often inundate her with when booking (Do you have air-conditioning? Is there parking? How much of a deposit do I need to make?), Elena replies, "Don't worry. Just come!" Good advice.
