Shopping

The most popular shopping area in Chuncheon is Myeong-dong Street. Originally called Joyang-dong Street, its name was changed to model Seoul's most popular shopping district. Located in downtown, the district is packed with over 300 shops, including boutiques, restaurants, fast-food joints, nightclubs, and movie theaters. Other than the alleyways filled with shops, there is an underground shopping district. The traditional market, Jung-ang Shijang, also in the area, dates back to 1962. Unlike the hip fashions in the boutique shops, the open-air market caters more to middle-aged tastes and also has shops that sell hanbok, Korean traditional clothes.

To get to the area from the bus terminal, take bus no. 7, 9, 64, or 64-2. From Chuncheon Train Station, take city bus no. 63, and from Namchuncheon Station, take bus no. 1, 32, 32-1, 35, or 67.
