Review of World Figure Skating Museum & Hall of FameThis is the only museum of its kind in the world, exhibiting 1,200 years of ice skates -- from early versions of carved bone to highly decorated cast-iron examples and finally the steel blades of today. There are also skating costumes, medals, and other memorabilia; changing exhibits; films; a library; and a gift shop. A gallery displays skating-related paintings, including works by the 17th-century Dutch artist Pieter Bruegel and Americans Winslow Homer and Andy Warhol. The museum is recognized by the International Skating Union, the sport’s international governing body, as the repository for the history and official records of figure skating and the sport’s official hall of fame. Here also are the U.S. national, regional, sectional, and international trophies. Allow 1 to 2 hours. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
