This delightful 1894 Victorian cottage houses a gem of a restaurant, chef-owned by Henri Chaperont. Since 1978, it has served a blend of classic French and eclectic modern cuisine in a friendly, intimate setting with jazz playing in the background. The food is innovative, interesting, and well presented; service is impeccable. The menus change monthly; if they're available, we suggest curried chicken salad with cashews and grapes, and crab cakes with corn pico de gallo. Being beefeaters, we especially like a dinner of grilled Black Angus filet with fresh horseradish and peppercorn crust and shallot jus. There's also usually a handmade vegetarian pasta of the day. Desserts, all made in-house, might include white-chocolate mousse with fresh berries, fresh fruit tart with almond paste, or crème brûlée.
