Trattoria La Grotta ReviewIn nice weather, you can eat outside in the tiny dead-end piazzetta just off Piazza della Repubblica. When winter hits, the service moves into the grotto, a series of stone- and brick-walled rooms that have a medieval air. A rich, creamy first course is the gnocchi di ricotta e spinaci, soft crumbly spheres of fresh ricotta and minced spinach in tomato sauce. For a secondo, order one of the grilled meats, such as agnello (lamb) or salsicce (sausage), which go well with a plate of fagioli bianchi (Tuscan white beans) on the side.
