Planning a Trip

Getting There -- Cranbrook is near the junction of the north-south Hwy. 93/95 corridor and the east-west Hwy. 3. Greyhound Canada (tel. 800/661-8747; www.greyhound.ca) operates buses that travel on both of these road systems. One-way service from Cranbrook to Golden costs C$38. Air Canada Jazz (tel. 888/247-2262; www.flyjazz.ca) operates flights from Vancouver to the Cranbrook Airport, north of town.

Visitor Information -- The Cranbrook Visitor Info Centre is at 2279 Cranbrook St. N. (tel. 800/222-6174 or 250/426-5914; www.cranbrookchamber.com). It's open daily 9am to 6pm.

Special Events -- Sam Steele Days (tel. 250/426-4161) celebrate the Wild West heritage of the Cranbrook area. This annual festival, held the third weekend of June, features an indoor rodeo, parade, barbecue, pancake breakfast, street dances, sports tournaments, and more.
