If you do something right, why mess around with anything else? That's the way the Slogar feels about its skillet-fried chicken and we couldn't agree more. The fixed-price menu offers chicken every night -- the best in the region -- accompanied by tangy coleslaw, mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits with honey butter, creamed corn, and ice cream. Also available is a family-style steak dinner, which is fine, but we still prefer the chicken. The atmosphere here is 1880s Victorian, somewhat elegant but not so highbrow as to scare off families.
