Frommer's Review
Set on a beach, this hotel has more charm, atmosphere, and personality than the resorts described below. It consists of a beautifully restored 200-year-old mansion and a large extension, called La Belle Alliance. In 2006 it opened a new annex, the Octagon Wing, containing 68 suites, the most desirable of the accommodations found here. The mansion was converted into a hotel in 1949, and today attracts the royals of the Netherlands. Each of the rooms in the newer Blues Wing has a balcony with an ocean view; some also contain kitchenettes. The rooms in the main mansion, though rather basic and small, still have charm. Most units have a king-size bed or full-size beds. The newer units have combination tub/showers, whereas some of the smaller rentals are shower only. The hotel lies on the shore road leading east out of the city from the shopping center.
The romantic, open-air Belle Terrace, shaded by huge trees, features a full a la carte menu of well-prepared international food. Blues, an elevated restaurant/bar at the end of the pier, caters to small, informal parties with a taste for jazz, swing, and, of course, blues. Antillean nights feature local cuisine and live music, and there are barbecues Saturday night.
Facilities:
3 restaurants; 4 bars; outdoor swimming pool; tennis court; spa; room service; babysitting; laundry service

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
