Hotels in Curacao
Choose from beachfront resorts to inland bed-and-breakfasts in historic Dutch land houses. Hotels cluster in Willemstad and the suburbs 10 to 15 minutes away. The bigger hotels have free shuttle buses into town, and most have beaches and pools. Most quoted prices do not include the 7% room tax or 12% to 14% service charge, so make sure to ask when reserving. Some charge a $3 daily energy tax.
Some hotels cater primarily to American and Canadian tourists, while others are occupied almost exclusively by the many Dutch visitors. The latter tend toward a quiet self-service atmosphere, with kitchenettes in the rooms and shuttles to local shopping markets. Many of the markets are clustered near the Jan Thiel Beach area. South Americans are an increasingly significant percentage of the tourist population, so many hotel desks can greet you in Spanish and Portuguese. Hotels listed here are a mixture but the larger chain hotels are really the U.S.-centric ones.
