The island's most imaginative and unusual hotel opens onto St. Anna Bay in Otrabanda near the Queen Emma Bridge. If you'd like to escape impersonal modern hotel blocks, head here and immerse yourself in the Dutch colonial architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries. The property is the creation of Dr. Jacob Gelt Dekker, who also created the Museum Kurá Hulanda, on the same grounds. Bedrooms are beautifully furnished with Indian marble bathrooms with tub and shower, all the modern amenities, and elegant beds and furnishings. Some accommodations also have kitchenettes. You're not on a beach, but if you're seeking West Indian inns or hotels with character, this is your best bet in the ABC islands.
