Planning a Trip

Trains depart every 20 minutes from London's Liverpool Street Station for the 50-minute ride to Colchester. For schedules and information, call tel. 0845/748-4950 or visit www.nationalrail.co.uk. From Colchester, it's possible to take a taxi from the railway station to the bus station, and then board a bus run by Beestons for the 8km (5-mile) trip to Dedham. (Buses leave about once an hour.) Most people take a taxi from Colchester directly to Dedham.

National Express buses depart from London's Victoria Coach Station for Colchester, where you have the choice of taking either another bus or a taxi to Dedham. For schedules and information, call tel. 0870/580-8080 or visit www.nationalexpress.com.

If you're driving from the London Ring Road, travel northeast on the A12 to Colchester, turning off at East Bergholt onto a small secondary road leading east to Dedham.
