Cimas Restaurante

In Monte Estoril, just outside the center of Estoril, this restaurant is housed in the replica of an Elizabethan cottage. Tables open onto views of the sea. You'll eat very well here on market-fresh ingredients skillfully handled by a well-trained kitchen staff. The bar that opened on this site in World War II became a haven for spies. In time, it became the unofficial headquarters of opponents of the Franco regime in Spain. Novelists, journalists, and artists flocked here. The savory sea bass with clams is a specialty. Other good-tasting dishes include salt codfish casserole; monkfish on a spit with prawns and fresh squid, and lamb kidneys in a Madeira wine sauce.
