Frommer's Review
This is a no-nonsense place, simple and good, and Gabriella is a no-nonsense lady who'll get exasperated if you're not ready with your order when she's ready to take it. Da Benvenuto's is basically a neighborhood hangout that somehow found its way into every guidebook over the years. Yet it continues to serve adequate helpings of tasty Florentine home cooking to travelers and locals seated together at long tables in two brightly lit rooms. This is always my first stop on any trip to Florence, where I usually order ravioli or gnocchi (potato-dumpling pasta) -- both served in tomato sauce -- and follow with a veal scaloppa alla Livornese or a frittata (an omelet filled at the whim of Loriano, Gabriella's husband and cook).
