Hotel Tornabuoni Beacci ReviewFrom the Renaissance until the 19th century this was the sumptuous guesthouse of the Strozzi family. It later became a sort of luxury pensione, and then a grand hotel. The staff greets return guests and new friends alike with genuine warmth. Everything is a bit worn, but there's a concerted effort to furnish the rooms with period pieces. The dining room is sunny, and the lunches and dinners are well prepared, but the real treasure is the roof deck. In summer, you can take breakfast on this terrace bursting with flowers and a view of the Bellosguardo hills. Off the terrace is a bar, and there's an atmospheric reading room with a 17th-century tapestry and a large fireplace that roars to life in winter. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
