Frommer's Review
In a traditional Old Florence atmosphere, the Masieri and Benelli families run a first-rate ship. Your room might have a wrought-iron headboard and massive reproduction antique armoire, and look out onto a peaceful garden; the amenities include fresh flowers and fruit. The beamed ceilings in the common areas date from the 17th century, although the building became a hotel only in 1872. I'd award Mario's three stars if not for its location -- it's a bit far from the Duomo nerve center. Hefty discounts during off-season months (as low as the lowest rates listed here) "de-splurge" this lovely choice.
