Frommer's Review
These are the best hostel-like accommodations in Florence, without a curfew, lockout period, or shower charge but with brand-new furnishings in plain but immaculate rooms -- like a college dorm that's never seen a frat party. It's technically not a hostel, though it looks and operates like one. Most rooms are doubles or triples (all with buttonless phones to receive calls), and unless you opt for a five-person room, you're unlikely to bunk with strangers. The institute's real work is caring for orphans, and the proceeds from your room fee go to help needy children. Reception is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 1pm and 3 to 7pm, Saturday from 9am to 1pm (you can stay over and prepay in order to check out during the weekend, but you can't check in).
