Frommer's Review
South Florida's favorite so-called Caribbean Cowboy, Chef Johnny Vinczencz, has moved around quite a bit -- from South Beach's Hotel Astor, where he returned in 2006 with his second eponymous eatery , to Delray Beach's Sundy House. But this Las Olas hot spot looks to be his final stop and that's good news to all Johnny V's faithful foodies who will travel to the end of the earth to sample some of his Caribbean-influenced new Floridian cuisine. What that means is, smoked pheasant nachos, sage grilled Florida dolphin with lobster pan gravy served atop rock shrimp plantain stuffing with cranberry mango chutney, and a slew of dishes you've likely never seen before. Once you've tasted his fare, you'll understand why a herd of hungry folks are extremely happy to have a place to satisfy their cravings for such gourmet grub. Barbra Streisand dined here while in town for her sold-out concerts in 2006 and couldn't stop singing the praises of Johnny V -- onstage during her show! She -- and Johnny -- were verklempt (falling over themselves with delight)! In late 2006, Johnny V. reopened at the Astor Hotel on South Beach, to the delight of many a foodie.
