The Pelican Beach Resort sits on a 500-foot private beach, with 180 oversized guest rooms (including 117 with balconies) and a sublimely relaxing, wraparound oceanfront veranda and sun deck with rocking chairs. What also rocks about this place are the two heated outdoor pools, complete with a lazy river raft ride. This is a great, low-key luxury resort, especially for families looking for a relaxing vacation with all the amenities of a more harried chain resort overwrought with slews of people. The resort is also completely nonsmoking.
