Cairoli Review

Renovated in 2006, this pleasant family-run hotel on the third floor of an old building has an excellent location a little way south of Stazione Principe and near the port, the aquarium, Via Garibaldi, and the sights of the Old City. The small rooms are extremely pleasant, with tasteful modern furnishings and tidy little bathrooms; double-pane glass keeps street noise to a minimum. The friendly management gives it the homey feel of an upscale youth hostel, leaving a little basket of snacks in your room (cookies, crackers, and Pringles). In good weather, you can relax on a terrace covered with potted plants (compact no. 9 opens onto it). They also have added a small weight room, in case you feel the need to work off a few too many plates of trofie.

Facilities:
Bar; concierge; small exercise room; room service; smoke-free rooms

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
