This has become a stalwart of solid, consistent dining in the city center of Glasgow. It is not flashy -- or even necessarily fashionable -- but it rarely strikes an out-of-tune note. It is what the British people might term a "safe pair of hands." The name is lowland Scots for "parrot," and motifs of the tropical bird abound in this basement space. The food is modern Scottish and brasserie-style fare, with starters, such as a creamy pâté served with tangy chutney, and main courses, such as grilled lamb chops with tomato and tarragon gravy. The pretheater prices are noteworthy.
