Frommer's Review
No. Sixteen has a neighborhood feel to it, small and slightly cramped with dining on the ground floor and a tiny mezzanine above. But its appeal extends far beyond those who happen to live nearby. The story's been told of a couple visiting Glasgow, who came here on their first night in town for dinner and returned every subsequent night because they were so pleased with the food. Near the base of Byres Road, this Scottish bistro offers inventive cooking of local ingredients: braised pig cheek with purple endive or pan-fried filet of mackerel with olive crushed potatoes, for example, on daily changing menus. The pretheater menu offers excellent value.
