This simple and unassuming Greek taverna midway between the city center and the heart of the West End, convenient to the moderately priced hotels and guesthouses nearby, has slowly developed a reputation for good, hearty food at relatively inexpensive prices. Unlike most of the city's Greek restaurants, which are primarily Cypriot, the owners of Konaki hail from the island of Crete instead. The menu includes phyllo pastry stuffed with goat's cheese, slow-cooked meats, and chargrilled kebabs. For a sample of Greek delicacies such as stuffed grape leaves and hummus dip, opt for the meze platter. Some Friday nights feature dancing and Greek plate-smashing for some lively entertainment.
