Frommer's Review
A 2,500 capacity ex-cinema that opened as a live music venue in 2003, the Carling Academy was expressly designed to compete with the Barrowland. It is part of a chain, which includes the legendary Brixton Academy in London, and thus has a booking strength with touring bands. It's a pity its corporate sponsor has to be so prominent in the name.
