Frommer's Review
Since the real Brasserie Lipp in Paris, that Hemingway favorite, has fallen off in its standards, this bistro now serves even better fare than the original. Opened in 1987 on Gothenburg's busiest avenue, the brasserie serves cuisine inspired by the legendary Left Bank bistro in Paris, tweaked for Swedish tastes. For example, the menu includes escargots in garlic-butter sauce, Lipp's Skagen toast (piled high with fresh shrimp), a tender Swedish entrecôte of beef with Dijon mustard sauce, grilled halibut with garlic-tomato sauce, and a savory Thai chicken. There's also choucroute garnie (sauerkraut with sausage and pork, the most famous dish served at its Paris namesake), as well as many different kinds of fish, most caught in the waters near Gothenburg.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
