It offers 16 one-bedroom fully equipped condominiums and a new beachfront restaurant, Big Daddy's Beach Shack. Room rates are $180 (£90) double in high season and $160 (£80) double in low season. Hotels add a 10% to 15% service charge, plus a 10% government occupancy tax, to the rates quoted below. Also keep in mind that many of the following resorts have a minimum-stay requirement during the winter high season. Villas A growing number of visitors -- families in particular -- are looking to rent villas or apartments on Grand Turk. The four two-story modern town-house units of Arches of Grand Turk Island (Lighthouse Rd.; tel. 649/946-2941; www.grandturkarches.com; winter $210-$330 /£105-£165 per night, $1,420-$2,260/bp]710-£1,130 per week; off season $190-$310/£95-£155 per night, $1,280-$2,120/£640-£1,060 per week) are located on the island's North Ridge. Each unit has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a full kitchen, and the complex has a nice freshwater swimming pool. Aqua House (Close Haul Rd.; contactus@aquahouse.tc; www.aquahouse.biz; $1,500-$1,600/£750-£800 per week) has two oceanfront condominiums, each with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, balconies with views, and bikes.
