This handsome historic structure in the heart of the Duke Street action was built in 1840 as the home of the salt-industry overseer and later served as the American consulate for 86 years. It's back in business after a few years' stint as an exclusive private rental and a popular movie location. The six rooms retain their original moldings and cedar ceilings and have been refreshed and outfitted with antique furniture. Fine dining is available at the on-site restaurant. Be sure to have a drink at the Friendship 7 Bar, so-named for the NASA memorabilia left over from John Glenn's stay here when his Mercury space capsule landed off Grand Turk in 1962. For a kick, settle back and enjoy one of the rotating series of films shown in the movie arcade, all of which were made on Grand Turk -- and many of which bypassed the movie theaters and went straight to Lifetime TV. The movie arcade also doubles as a year-round Christmas shop.
