Frommer's Review
Built in 1909, this is one of the more historic hotels in Habana Vieja. Heck, suite no. 216 is still rented out, replete with bat and ball and other memorabilia from one of its more famous guests, the Sultan of Swat, Babe Ruth. Albert Einstein and Isadora Duncan were also guests here. However, historic charm is in greater supply than actual comfort or luxury; rooms feel a bit dated and spartan, and you'll find just as many famous ghosts haunting the nearby Hotel Sevilla , while enjoying much more comfortable accommodations. Still, the rooms are spacious and clean, and quite a few have narrow private balconies. The lobby is worth checking out, whether you're staying here or not, for its intricate mosaic tile floor, bas-relief trim, and stained-glass atrium skylights. And, by all means, come by for an afternoon drink at the rooftop Solarium Bar, with great views of Havana and the neighboring Bacardi building.
