Holiday Inn Golden Mile Review

Named after the "golden mile of shopping" on Nathan Road, this Holiday Inn has a great location right in the heart of bustling Tsim Sha Tsui. Maybe that's why it's popular with tour groups, mainly from North America and China, which can make the lobby rather crowded and bothersome. However, it's a good bet for families thanks to the pool and the fact that children 12 and under with two adults can eat free in the hotel's restaurants. Rooms, decorated in Ming blue or Oriental red with Chinese-influenced accents on everything from the drapes to the TV cabinets, impart a warm, cozy feeling and are large for Tsim Sha Tsui, featuring either a king-size bed or two double beds. Although rooms boast floor-to-ceiling windows, views are blocked by adjacent buildings; those facing the unsightly Chungking Mansion are glazed (believe me, it's better this way). Those facing Mody Road are brighter but noisier; try to get a room on a high floor. All in all, this is a functional hotel in a convenient location.

Facilities:
4 restaurants; bar; babysitting; concierge; house doctor; executive-level rooms; health club; rooftop pool open year-round; room service; sauna

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
