From the outside, Hotel Croatia looks like an upscale mansion nestled in a woodsy flower garden. Inside, it's evident that the hotel was built during the Tito regime and is caught in a time warp. Rooms are tiny, dark, and cooled by a table fan, while the bathrooms are closet-size and dimly lit. While the hotel's location a few yards from the sea is a plus, its value-for-dollar is very low.
