This is an institution among locals, who line up for a typical Cretan meal solely of appetizers. The zucchini slices, dipped in batter and deep-fried, are fabulous. A plate of tomatoes and cukes, another of sliced fried potatoes, small fish, perhaps fried squid -- that's it. A couple could assemble a meal for as little as 20€ ($26) -- but go early. Ippocampus is down along the coast road. You can sit indoors or on the sidewalk, a bargain either way.
