Frommer's Review
Although Iraklion now boasts of a more luxurious hotel, the Atlantis is probably more than adequate for most travelers' tastes. This superior Class A hotel is in the heart of Iraklion, yet removed from city noise (especially if you use the air-conditioning). The staff is friendly and helpful, and although the Atlantis is popular with conference groups -- it has major conference facilities -- individuals get personal attention. Guest rooms, although neither plush nor especially large, are comfortable. You can swim in the pool, send e-mail via your laptop, and then within minutes be out enjoying a fine meal or visiting a museum.
Facilities: Restaurant; 2 bars; small indoor pool; rooftop garden; tennis court across street; Jacuzzi; bike rental; children's playground (across street); video rentals; concierge; tour desk; car-rental desk; airport pickup by arrangement; secretarial service; salon; 24-hr. room service; massage; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning; nonsmoking rooms.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
