Shopping

Songdu Yujie (Imperial Street of the Song Dynasty) is lined with shops that sell souvenirs, embroidery, silk screen paintings, calligraphy, paintings, seals, and ink stones. There's also a touristy shopping district called Gudai Wenhua Qu (Gudai Culture Area); expect plenty of kitsch and bargain hard. For specialty snacks from Henan, visit the Kaifeng Tutechan Shichang (8:30am-9pm), on Long Ting Xi Lu, near Songdu Yujie. Goodies include huasheng gao (peanut cake) and xingren cha (almond tea), which is more like a gelatin than a tea.
