Shopping

Songdu Yujie (Imperial Street of the Song Dynasty) is lined with shops that sell souvenirs, embroidery, silk screen paintings, calligraphy, paintings, seals, and ink stones. A new touristy shopping district called Gudai Wenhua Qu (Gudai Culture Area) should be open by the time you get here. For specialty snacks from Henan, visit the Kaifeng Tutechan Shichang (open 8:30am-9pm), on Long Ting Xi Lu, near Songdu Yujie. Goodies include huasheng gao (peanut cake) and xingren cha (almond tea), which is more like a gelatin than a tea.
