Restaurants

Karlovac is konoba country. Most of the city's dining spots are casual affairs that specialize in pizza, huge plates of grilled meats, and regional specialties such as platters of mixed grill (meat) and fish. However, a couple of restaurants go beyond the traditional to add a twist to the expected.

What's a Konoba? -- A konoba is usually a family-run restaurant that specializes in regional cuisine made with local produce, homegrown and prepared meats, family-caught fish, and perhaps even family-made wines. Any dining spot that calls itself a konoba is usually casual and traditional, with family-style service, large portions at low prices, and a lot of regular local customers. Think Irish pub or neighborhood bistro.
