Nightlife

Theater -- The Teatro del Giglio, Piazza del Giglio 13-15 (tel. 0583-467-521; www.teatrodelgiglio.it), is where Rossini premiered his William Tell in 1831 (Paganini was in the orchestra, little realizing that the dramatic Overture he was playing would one day be better known as the theme song from The Lone Ranger). Today it presents mainly classic plays -- Greek, Shakespearean, and Italian -- along with a few contemporary Italian works from mid-November to mid-March. It also hosts concerts year-round and is remaining open while undergoing a much-needed face-lift.
