Frommer's Review
This hotel sits in the gardens of the sprawling Villa Bottini, and once served as the stables. These days it provides deluxe, businesslike accommodations with modern rooms, and all guests enjoy such complimentary perks as a snack bar (free beer, anyone?), wireless Internet, and free use of bikes -- all included in the price. The rooms are fitted simply but stylishly with cherry veneer built-in units and double-paned windows -- though you don't even need them on this quiet street. The rooms opening onto the little canal out front are nice, but even better views are over the gravelly tree-filled garden out back. Three of these rooms even open onto a shared terrace, and there's also a public terrace dotted with potted camellias and shaded by a giant sycamore. The same group owns three restaurants in town, including the Buca di Sant'Antonio -- all are recommended below -- and you can work out a pension deal. They've recently completed renovations to a nearby medieval church, formerly the Church of the Annunciation, now an annex they call Residenza dell'Alba. Two suites incorporate the church's medieval walls, and the conference room is a 14th-century frescoed chapel.
