This hotel is divided between two buildings on a dead-end street off Lucca's main shopping promenade and just a few steps from the medieval houses following the curves of the Roman amphitheater. The rooms are mostly furnished in 1980s style, but a few lush 17th-century frescoes grace the second-floor rooms in the older half of the hotel -- including no. 242, a family-perfect quad. The bathrooms range from spacious to cramped, from tub plus box shower to a curtainless wall nozzle, but all have fluffy towels. The accommodating owners keep the place very clean and well maintained.
