Review of Parque de AtraccionesNow in its fourth decade, this lively park on the edge of the Casa de Campo boasts an enticing array of attractions aimed predominantly at youngsters. These include a toboggan slide, a carousel, pony rides, an adventure into outer space, a walk through a transparent maze, a visit to a jungle, a motor-propelled series of cars disguised as a tail-wagging dachshund puppy, and a gyrating whirligig clutched in the tentacles of an octopus named El Pulpo. The park also has diversions for young-at-heart adults, such as the exhilarating Montaña Rusa (roller coaster) and the American-designed Lanzadera (literally "launcher") which drops you 180 stomach-churning feet (55 meters) in a matter of seconds. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
