This well-run and popular Salamanca restaurant, named after an African tree yet decorated in a slick New York style, is known for its nueva cocina (nouvelle cuisine), attracting businessmen and -women for lunch and a trend-setting younger crowd in the evening. The Asian-fusion prawn rolls make a delightful starter, as does the white fish salad soused in a delightful sherry vinaigrette. For main courses, you can sample enticing dishes like marinated tuna steak (grilled to perfection) or eggplant lasagna served with fresh mushrooms and lots of creamy mozzarella. Seafood enthusiasts also appreciate the Atlantic coast merluza (hake) served in an asparagus sauce. Desserts are always tempting and the flans (caramel custards) are made fresh daily.
