True to its name, this friendly and individual boutique-style hotel, with its cool red-brick exterior, wood paneling, and tinted-glass-decorated interior, is located close to Madrid's elegant Royal Opera House. The comfortable guest rooms, adorned with fabric-covered walls and equestrian-oriented prints, range from medium to fairly spacious, and those higher up also enjoy views of Plaza Isabel II and the Teatro Real (directly opposite the Opera House). Their adjoining marble-clad bathrooms have tub/shower combos, and some boast hydromassage jets. The English-speaking staff is most helpful in pointing out the excellent choice of local cafes, eating spots, and historic monuments.
