Set cheek by jowl among about a dozen competitors that line the perimeter of the historic Lilla Torg, this restaurant is a bit hipper and more popular than many of the others. Of course, on the crush of a midsummer evening, when every cafe and restaurant on the square is packed with seers who enjoy being seen, it looks a lot like its neighbors. But in winter, when the action moves into its interior, its coziness becomes more obvious. Its principal draw is an Old Sweden theme: Menu items are old-fashioned and conservative, but undeniably flavorful. The best examples include toast Skagen (layered with shrimp, mayonnaise, and dill); gravlax (marinated salmon) cured with fennel; a spicy version of fish soup; pan-fried loin of cod; and vegetarian tomato stew with chickpeas. Dessert might feature a dark chocolate parfait with almond-studded crisps.
