Bab Mansour Frommer's Recommended

Location Rue Dar Smen, opposite place el Hedim

Frommer's Review

The gate for which Moulay Ismail created place el Hedim, this is one of the grandest of Moroccan gateways. Eventually completed by Moulay Ismail's son, Moulay Abdallah, in 1732, it is quite often overlooked by travelers who become ensconced in the activity and sights on the square opposite. The gate has had a recent clean-up, and along with a smaller gate beside it, Bab Jemaa en Nouar, stands watch over the busy pedestrian and vehicle traffic, resplendent in green and blue zellij and towering columns. The interior of the bab is sometimes used to house art exhibitions.
