Majestic Hotel ReviewThis 1930s hotel was once the toast of the ville nouvelle, and even though it is now definitely in the budget category, there is still some elegance left in the old girl. A wide, spiral marble staircase leads up to three floors of rooms, some recently renovated and with a private bathroom, others with just a basin and shared facilities in the hallways. As with all accommodations in this price range, there are some sacrifices to be made, and the major one here is the lack of any heating in winter that, combined with the dark-wood walls and tile flooring throughout, can make things a bit chilly. Inward-facing rooms look out over a pleasant courtyard, while a large Moroccan salon on the rooftop terrace can be converted to dorm-style beds if requested. On the ground floor is a small breakfast room with a TV that is also a good place to meet up with other travelers. Tip: For those staying in a room without a private bathroom, there are more shared facilities (and fewer rooms) on the third floor than the second. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
