Founded in 1998 by world travelers and art lovers Jack and Marilyn Belz (he's the owner of The Peabody hotel empire), this unexpected downtown museum features pieces culled from the couple's extensive collection. Chinese art from the Qing and Tang dynasties include stunning silver boxes, imperial tomb figurines, ink-on-paper portraits, and intricate jade and ivory carvings. Alongside these treasures are European art objects, Russian lacquer boxes, as well as contemporary modern Jewish art.
