Billed as the only fire museum in the country that combines history along with an interactive fire-safety educational program, this often-overlooked kids' attraction has lots to offer, and safety lessons to teach. Highlights include a talking horse and a simulation that allows visitors to feel like they are standing inside of a burning house. Though far from being a 'thrill-ride' experience, parents should keep in mind that the scene, which includes a sofa bursting into flames and a rise in temperature as the fire engulfs the house, may be too intense for easily frightened youngsters.
