Tucked into a corner of the lobby of the Embassy Suites Hotel, this classy little restaurant serves some of the most authentic Italian food in Memphis. The atmosphere evokes the Old South far more than it does the trattorias of Rome, and the clublike setting attracts a well-heeled clientele. If you prefer a more casual setting, ask for a table on the atrium patio. The seafood and veal dishes are among the strong points here, and there are plenty of these to choose from. The bistecca toscano and scampi portofino are two of the most popular dishes here. If pasta is what you're after, the Elfo Special is worth considering -- plenty of big shrimp and lots of garlic. There is also an elegant little bar in case you happen to arrive early.
