Sekisui of Japan ReviewUnlike Japanese restaurants that almost go overboard on tranquillity, Sekisui is a noisy and active place, especially on weekends. The sushi bar prepares platters of assorted fish, from appetizer tidbits to a huge sushi boat that includes octopus, conch, snapper, and flying-fish-roe sushi. Fiery wasabi, a splash of soy, and shredded ginger add zing. Tempura, teriyaki, and yakizakana dinners come with rice, a wonderful miso soup, and salad. Some locations offer a separate robata grill menu. Among the other Sekisui locations are those at 25 S. Belvedere St. (tel. 901/725-0005) in Midtown, and under the name Sekisui Pacific Rim, at 4724 Poplar Ave. (tel. 901/767-7770), in East Memphis. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
