Frommer's Review
One of the newest fine-dining restaurants and upscale bars downtown, Circa has been a place to see and be seen since it opened in mid-2007. Young local restaurateur and French-trained chef-owner John Bragg has pulled out all the stops to create a sleek, cosmopolitan space dominated by wall-to-ceiling wine racks dividing rows of candle-lit tables. Polished service, including expert wine recommendations made from an extensive list, make meals here feel special. We enjoyed the crisp spinach salad with crab meat; seared five-spice-encrusted tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes; and a generous surf-and-turf combo that paired succulent lobster with juicy, lean steak. Braised lamb shanks, crispy duck breast, and pan-roasted grouper are among the menu's other entrees. Plan ahead if you want to order the bananas foster soufflé, which takes 30 minutes to prepare.
