Memphis Marriott Downtown ReviewLocated at the north end of downtown, on the Main Street trolley line, the 19-floor Marriott is connected to the convention center. Although the hotel is a bit off the beaten track, surrounded mostly by government buildings, it's accessible to the trolley that will take you up and down Main Street to where there's more action. The lobby is built on a grand scale with soaring ceilings, marble floors, and traditional furnishings. My favorite units here are the corner rooms, which have angled walls that provide a bit more character than others. The standard king rooms are also good bets. For views of the Mississippi, ask for a room on the 10th floor or higher. Facilities: Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
