It’s hard to believe that this warren of little whitewashed buildings and steep twisting streets could even exist just 8km (5 miles) north of the frenzied coastal road and the beachside resorts. Mijas sits at the foot of a mountain range at 450m (1,476 ft.) above sea level, with panoramic views of the Mediterranean. There’s frequent bus service to Mijas from the terminal at Fuengirola, 30 minutes away. To drive from Fuengirola, take the Mijas road north.
